Mr. Fire reference in the email, am I correct?

I’ve been very encouraged by hearing the experiences of others as they dig deep. It takes a determination that pushes beyond the normal boundaries. After all, what we have been doing normally hasn’t worked for us, right?

I have found that digging deep involves an emotional element that I didn’t realize was part of the equation. A huge thank you to all that are taking on this challenge for better health. You’re awesome!

I guess another question that I have is what makes the difference to where a person is surfaces involved vs. digging deep? They are so different and yet it appears that some people are say they are interested in health as long as it doesn’t mean pushing the envelope. Almost like I buy green, but don’t recycle. Kareem, in your experience what seals the deal for people to really commit to a change and dig deep?

Take care and have a fantastic Friday!
Andrew

Hey Andrew,

First of all… I hope everyone reading this understands what a smart move you’ve made by asking questions on our blog. You are truly receiving personal coaching that extends way beyond the scope of http://PersonalVideoBootcamp.com or any other program.

(and, yes, I am happy to help, and I enjoy helping you – just wanted to make that point and offer this help to more people if they are willing to reach out and ask a question)

Christi – I have not forgotten your nutrition question, and I’m very interested to answer. You gave me a lot of details, and I appreciate you taking the time. My first impression was to suggest that you eat more balanced snacks (i.e. carbs:proteins:fats) – it seems as though you make very good choices, but that each individual meal or snack may be sided more towards one source of nutrients, rather than a combination.

I will be traveling this week, but I’ll do my best to take a closer look. If you haven’t heard back, feel free to remind me. In the meantime, please try to make your snacks ‘mini meals.’ Ideally, they are just leftovers from dinner the night before, but in smaller portions. This is the best kind of snack you can get!

Andrew, coming back to your question… sealing the deal?

Wow! You hit me hard with that one…

I’d have to say that it’s emotional triggers. These are different for everyone. Normally, before I start working with someone in person, they undergo a lengthy interview process where they can evaluate me and my emotional ties to what I do. Likewise, I am evaluating them. Here are a few of the things that I believe seal the deal the most often:

Getting out of breath walking up the stairs

Seeing a parent, brother, or sister pass away at a young age or have a serious health issue

Having difficulty playing with their kids

Joint pain

Events – i.e. high school reunion

Cholesterol – with a family history

Difficulty concentrating at work/productivity

Sex – this is huge! People really begin to feel unattractive to their partners and they want to look better naked. They worry about their marriage and they want to be happy now that they have an ‘empty nest’

Hope this info helps.

Here’s an assignment for everyone:

Reach deep inside and make a list of the top 10 things you have ever valued.

Make a second list of the top 10 things you value most today.

Decide what you’re going to work on to help you feel better about each one.

Have a great night,

Kareem

This was a great video. Digging deep is really what it takes to get motivated to get healthy. But once you’ve started you can’t give up and quit because results may be slow. When this happens you just have to remind yourself “WHY” we are doing this. I may have to remind myself numerous times thru out the day to get past those temptations, or feeling like a lazy day. But once I remember why again, it’s so much easier to keep going.

I’ve also read that for food temptations that “Is that treat that lasts only a few seconds worth your health or your life?” My answer is “NO” and so I resist, walk away and grab the water bottle.

keep up the good work everyone. I know it’s not easy, but keep digging deep and burn baby burn that fat.. :)
